The best tradespeople are not applying.

Postings catch people who are looking. We go and find the ones who are not, one trade at a time.

  • They are on a crew, they are trusted, and they are already working.
  • They do not read job boards or answer postings.
  • They move for the right scope, so the first message has to be about their own work.

Nationwide

Local and traveling outreach, in all 50 states

We search by scope, not by city page. A local search reaches the people who already work within driving distance of your jobsite. A traveling search reaches the people who already follow the work on per diem and rotation.

Either way, you get a specific, screened shortlist, not a pile of 20 resumes.

Tell us where the work is. If your scope needs people from outside the area, we say so and plan outreach to the places where that trade is concentrated.

Traveling trades How we work

Six stages

How does a search run?

1

Market Mapping

We map who does your exact work, in your region or nationwide, and which employers they sit at. We start from the scope, the equipment, the shift and the license, not from the job title.

2

Contact Intelligence

We work out how to reach those people through lawful, professional sources, and which of them are plausible movers. No scraping tricks and no pretending to be anyone.

3

Persistent Personalized Outreach

Good tradespeople ignore the first message. We write to each person about their own work and stay relevant and respectful until there is a real conversation.

4

Live Qualification

We talk through scope, tools and what the person has actually done, then check any required license or certification with the issuing authority for the jurisdiction.

5

Candidate Intelligence

We learn what would make a move worth it, how they work, and where the gaps are, so you hear it before the interview and not after it.

6

Shortlist

You receive a specific shortlist with a written brief on each person. It is short because it was checked, not because we guessed. We make no promise about who will accept.

Hiring a tradesperson? Start a search around the work, not just the title.

From the whole market to a shortlist.

Every filter is a conversation with a real person. We don't cut corners, so the list gets short because we checked, not because we guessed.

Three steps

How does it work?

1

Tell us who you need

Send the trade, the headcount and where the work is. It takes two short steps.

2

We find and qualify

We map the market, reach working people, and qualify them live before anyone is presented.

3

You interview a shortlist

You get a written brief on each person and decide who to meet. No fee unless you hire.

Relocation

People who will relocate

Some of the best candidates for a hard-to-fill role live somewhere else. We ask early who is open to relocating, what would make it worth it, and what the move requires, so you are not guessing after the offer.

Travel

People who travel

Many tradespeople already work on per diem and rotation. For multi-state work, shutdowns and project crews, we recruit the people whose trade life already looks like that.

What if a hire does not work out?

We offer a candidate replacement guarantee on standard search agreements. The applicable period and exact terms are set out in the signed client recruiting agreement.

More than a resume.

A resume lists jobs. Our brief tells you what the person actually does, what they want, and what to ask them.

Hiring a licensed tradesperson? Get a shortlist matched to your actual work.

What do owners ask first?

Do I pay anything upfront?

No. There is no upfront fee. You pay only if you hire.

How is this different from posting a job?

Postings reach people who are looking. Our searches reach licensed people already working, who are often the better hires and rarely apply.

Do you only do direct hire?

Direct hire is our standard. Contract or temp-to-hire is available only on request.

Do you place foremen and field leadership?

Yes. Hands-on field leaders such as foremen, general foremen and field supervisors are in scope. We are part of a family of specialist recruiting firms run from Miami.

Is there a guarantee?

We offer a candidate replacement guarantee on standard search agreements. The applicable period and exact terms are set out in the signed client recruiting agreement.

Do you recruit nationwide?

Yes, for local and traveling roles. We do not run city pages because every search is built around your scope, not a map pin.

How a search runs

What happens in The Six-Step Search?

Every Skilled Trades Headhunters client search follows the same six named steps. Here is what happens at each one and what you get from it.

Six stations in a measured search sequenceA steel guide rail connects six numbered joining points. Tick marks show the sequence from intake to interview and offer support.010203040506INTAKEOFFER SUPPORT
One continuous search; six points where the fit is measured.
  1. 1

    Intake and calibration

We agree on the work, location, pay, schedule and credentials before contacting anyone.

What you get: You get a clear role profile with the deal breakers named up front.

  2. 2

    Targeted market research

We map the trade backgrounds and local or traveling talent that fit. We use relevant employer types, referrals and public license lookups where available.

What you get: You get a search aimed at the actual work, not a job title alone.

  3. 3

    Personal outreach

We contact working tradespeople individually about the opening and what would make a move worthwhile.

What you get: You reach people who are not replying to your job advertisement.

  4. 4

    Live qualification

Each person is talked through the scope, equipment and schedule in a live conversation. Applicable licenses are checked with the issuing authority.

What you get: You only hear about people who understand the job and want it.

  5. 5

    Written shortlist insight

We present a short list with a written brief on each person: what they do now, what they want and what to probe.

What you get: You interview a few people instead of reading a stack.

  6. 6

    Interview and offer support

We help you prepare interviews, discuss the offer and address counteroffers. We stay in touch through the agreed start.

What you get: You have support for the hiring decision. The signed agreement sets the replacement terms.

What do owners ask before a search?

What does it cost?

No upfront fee. You pay only if you hire. Fee terms are set out in the signed agreement. The full explanation is on our fees page.

How long until I see a short list?

It depends on the trade, the location, the pay and how specific the scope is. A common service role in a busy market moves faster than a niche controls role in a small town. We give you an honest read on the intake call and update you as the search runs. We do not promise a date.

What about counteroffers?

Good tradespeople often get a counteroffer when they resign. We ask every candidate early what would make them stay where they are, we tell you what we hear, and we talk the candidate through the resignation before it happens.

Can you find people who travel or need per diem?

Yes. We settle travel, per diem, lodging and home time on the intake call and repeat them to every candidate, because they decide whether a traveling offer is accepted.

Do you check licenses?

Where a license or certification is required for the work, we confirm it with the issuing authority for the jurisdiction of the work. Requirements differ by trade and state, and some trades have no state license at all. When that is the case, we say so and test the scope instead.

What if the hire does not work out?

We offer a candidate replacement guarantee on standard search agreements. The applicable period and exact terms are set out in the signed client recruiting agreement.

What do you not do?

We do not bill by the hour, we do not take retainers unless agreed in writing, we do not repost your job on job boards, and we are not a same-day labor hall. We do not run drug, MVR or background checks; your company handles any the role requires.
